In these trying economic times people are trying to get the best deals on everything they can. This includes clothing. There are lots of thrift stores and online places to get great deals on gently used clothing.
Thrift stores are not what they used to be. People are very easily bored and this includes being bored with their clothing. Gone are the days people put clothing in boxes and wait for it to go back in style or boxed up hand me downs for a sibling who would wear them in five years. People are quicker to get rid of their clothes faster, which is good for thrift store shoppers. Often name brand clothes in very good shape can be found in thrift stores. This is especially important if teenagers are in the house hold. There are even high end thrift stores that specialize in name brand clothing and accessories such as Plato’s Closet.
The best days to shop at thrift stores are usually Tuesday or Wednesdays. People have their garage sales or sort through their clothes as weekend projects. The clothing that isn’t wanted or doesn’t sell is usually brought to the thrift store on Saturday, Sunday or Monday. The clothes are then usually sorted and marked on Monday and Tuesday. So, the newer clothes are put out on the racks Tuesday and Wednesdays.
If access to good thrift stores is limited, great deals can also be found on Ebay. The disadvantage of Ebay is that shipping must be paid. The advantage is that there are a wide variety of things being sold and sellers. Usually if a person is outbid, they can find the same item to bid on later. The best times to bid on Ebay are typically also the weekend or beginning of the week. Most people typically put their stuff on Ebay over the weekend so if it is a seven day auction it will end on the following weekend. When bidding on Ebay do the homework. See what market value is and be sure the item being bid on is not subject to a recall.
