When fashion goes on clearance:
When shopping for clothes, understand that fashion cycles in and out over the year.  End-of-season sales are the best time to purchase deeply discounted items. Keep in mind that January is the best time to purchase winter clothes, since this is when stores have inventory clearance on seasonal items. After Easter, stores have clearance on Easter dresses and men’s suits and ties. During August, summer clothes go on clearance. In October school clothes go on clearance, as well as school supplies. The bottom line is to wait until the last moment to purchase seasonal clothing items. Another tip is to buy clothes that have the versatility to carry on into next year.

Other types of sales
Other types of sales exist. Keep an eye out for liquidation sales, manager’s sales, anniversary sales, fire sales, winter’s end sales, summer’s end sales, inventory sales and closing sales.

Beware of certain sales
Some stores say they’re "Going Out of Business." Often times, the deals don’t reflect the expectation.
