Graphics/Sound -As usual, the graphics are great in the Heat the Soul series and always improve. The movements look smoother and the voices are much clearer. It does not feel laggy at all. HTS 7 brings back some memorable music from the previous installments and the boss battle musics are great! And watching those short game animation scenes are always a great welcome.

Gameplay:

 

The gameplay is still mostly the same from the previous installments of the Heat the Soul series. The game is player friendly, the controls are smooth and opens up to more combos and also brings back the "soul codes" which change the gameplay experience based on what soul codes you choose such as increasing speed, hp, or attacks etc. The menu system is the same as HTS 6 so it is easy to find your way around but leaves a bit of a disappointed feeling as it feels like you are back in HTS 6. HTS 7 introduces 4 player battles for the first time as well as giant boss battles. It is easy to say that this games main focus is the 4 player and giant boss battles due to lack of improvement in other areas for the game. The level of the AI has fallen a bit in this game as they don't seem to pose too much of a challenge as opposed to the previous HTS 6. The action is still great though. However, when it comes to giant boss battles, the damage system is unbalanced. There are about ten new playable characters (when you include the resurrections and such for them). And for the first time in any of the Heat the Soul series, there is a download option to download a special movie character.

When you fill your boost meter, the flame will turn blue and you can then begin using a supercharged boost. While you don't actually go any faster than using a normal boost, you're able to chain these together and earn multipliers. As you burn off your boost, if you manage to perform enough daring maneuvers while emptying the tank, be it by driving against traffic or drifting enough, your boost will then reset when you drain it and increase your Burnout multiplier by one. Not only does this mean that you can essentially boost infinitely around the track, this increases the score that you receive for your crazed driving, which is a major part of many events now.

The tanks themselves come in three classes: the fast but poorly armored ASP, the all round Cabal and the heavyweight Titan. This is a novel idea but is let down by the inability to cosmetically customize the tanks, as there are only three paint schemes to choose from, and every country has the same three tank models. Even the weapons are limited to two from a choice of five for each of the three weight classes, and they look no different on the tank itself. In a game that boasts a high level of customization, this is also a disappointment.

The problem is that the ASP is almost as fast as the Titan but with severely reduced armor and firepower. Before every mission, Wraith and company pour over a worn map and some black and white photos to plan their attack. When things go wrong on the inside -- like a squadmate becoming a hostage -- the SEALs react on their own and formulate a plan.

Gameplay:

 

Most importantly, you get to pick how you and your squad tackle each situation. Yes, SOCOM excels at putting you in Wraith's shoes. You can tell the team to hold position and then run ahead to stealth kill the patrolling guards or send the team ahead of you and tell them to fire at will so the path will be cleared. You can have them kick open doors and toss flash bangs or kick in the door and just shoot everyone. This feels like it's your team. These guys are taking orders from no one but you, and it's a hell of a feeling when you get the system down and see the squad function like a well-oiled machine.
